They asked him, "O Messenger of Allah, you told the poor man to eat rice, and you told the wealthy man to eat rice as well. Why is that?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, "Remember that when a person cooks rice, there is one grain in his food that is blessed by Allah's mercy. I told the poor man to eat rice because a poor person can only afford to buy a small amount of rice and cook a small amount. When he eats, he will eat each grain carefully, and in this way, the grain that is blessed by Allah's mercy will enter the poor person's stomach. This will be the cause of abundance in his sustenance." On the other hand, a wealthy person will cook a large amount of rice, and when he takes rice out to eat, he will also take out a large amount. He will eat some and waste some. In this way, he will waste the grain that is blessed by Allah's mercy.
